Version guide: Version 1.1.5 is available now. The setup instructions below apply to the current release.

Getting started

Does Mediavyr include TV channels or movies?

No. Mediavyr Player is a player only. It does not provide, sell or bundle content, IPTV subscriptions or provider credentials. Connect your own authorised sources.

What sources are supported?

Use Xtream Codes, M3U/M3U8 playlists, XMLTV EPG, supported Stalker/MAG/Ministra setups, local files, SMB libraries, Plex, Jellyfin and Emby.

How does the seven-day trial work?

New users receive seven days of Premium access. No subscription starts automatically and the trial itself does not schedule a charge. Trial timing is anchored using Apple-provided verification rather than the editable device clock. A reinstall or another device does not guarantee a new trial.

What happens after the trial?

The end-of-trial screen lets you continue with Mediavyr Lite for free or unlock Premium with Monthly, Yearly or Lifetime. Lite keeps core playback on the device. Premium adds multiple sources, Plex/Jellyfin/Emby, iCloud synchronization, Source Sync, global search and advanced sorting.

What is included in Mediavyr Lite?

Lite keeps Live TV, Movies, Series, SMB, Favorites and Continue Watching on the device. Premium adds multiple sources, Plex/Jellyfin/Emby, iCloud synchronization, Source Sync, global search and advanced sorting.

How do I restore purchases?

Open Settings → Mediavyr Premium → Restore Purchases while using the Apple Account that made the purchase. You can buy Premium before the trial ends from the same screen.

How do I cancel a subscription or request a refund?

Apple manages billing. Use your Apple subscription settings to cancel renewal. For an eligible refund request, use Apple’s Report a Problem service. Deleting Mediavyr does not itself cancel a subscription.

Do I need a Mediavyr account?

No. You only supply credentials when the external provider or server you choose requires them. Apple handles purchases and iCloud access through your Apple Account.

Which devices can I use?

Mediavyr is designed for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac. Check the App Store listing for operating-system and device requirements, the current version and regional availability.

Version 1.1.5 setup

These options are available in version 1.1.5.

Connect Plex, Jellyfin or Emby

Open Settings → Media servers → Add media server and choose the service. For Plex, follow the on-screen authorization-code flow. For Jellyfin or Emby, enter the address of your server and its account details. Then choose a library. Mediavyr does not create or host a server for you.

Use the library away from home

Your server must be reachable from the device you are using. A local network address may work at home but not elsewhere. Source Sync copies supported settings; it is not a relay, VPN or remote-access service. Follow your server’s guidance for secure remote access.

Keep favourites and Continue Watching in sync

Use the same Apple Account on your supported devices and check Settings → Services & Security → iCloud Sync. This synchronizes supported library state; it does not upload your films or episodes.

Sync saved sources with iCloud

Open Settings → Services & Security → Source Sync and enable the option. Supported source settings and access information are stored in encrypted fields in your private CloudKit database. Use Sync now and allow the status to update. The enabled preference can follow the same Apple Account to another device.

Turn Source Sync off or remove a synced source

Disabling Source Sync stops future syncing but does not erase existing local or iCloud copies. To propagate a removal, delete the saved source using its management screen while sync is on and let synchronization complete. See data retention and deletion for details.

Set parental controls

Open Settings → Services & Security → Parental Control. Choose a PIN of 4–8 digits or a password of 8–128 characters. There is no default PIN. Credentials and locks are local to each device; a PIN on your Mac is not automatically the PIN on Apple TV.

Lock a category, film or series

With protection configured, use the menu beside a category on iPhone, iPad or Mac. On Apple TV, press and hold Select on the category for its Lock/Unlock action. In film or series details, use the lock beside the favourite control. A series lock covers the whole show, not just one episode. Removing a lock requires your PIN or password.

Why does protected content ask for the PIN again?

Temporary access closes when you leave a protected category or finish the protected playback visit. This is intentional, rather than a global unlock for every category or title.

Change audio or subtitles during playback

Use the player’s Audio & Subtitles controls for films and episodes. The choices depend on tracks provided by the media. Version 1.1.5 includes playback and interface refinements, but no player can guarantee the availability or speed of a third-party stream.

When playback or sync needs attention

Check that the chosen source is reachable and its credentials are valid. For local media, make sure local-network access is permitted. For sync, check your Apple Account, connection and the status shown in Services & Security. A playlist’s EPG and available language tracks are supplied by its provider.

When contacting support

Include your device model, operating-system version, Mediavyr version, source type, the steps leading to the issue and whether it happens on Wi-Fi or another network. A cropped screenshot or a short redacted log can help.

Keep credentials private. Never email your provider password, media-server token, parental PIN or an unredacted playlist URL. Logs and screenshots can contain these details — check them before attaching.
